Mine Volume 1 Mine Series Liz Borino 9781612580807 Books Reviews
This was a great book (all 4parts of it)! What a awesome relationship Steve and Zach have. I loved the their love just kept getting stronger and the best about this story was that they remained true and loyal to each other. Neither one of them thought of ever straying. I can't tolerate these story's that have the everyone cheating. Liz Borino kept their love true to each other and true to us as her readers.
Mine Volume 1 includes the never before published prequel, Casting (4 stars), and three books from the series - Action (3.75 stars), Cutaway (4 stars) and That's a Wrap (4.75 stars).
Casting introduces us to Steve and Zack. Fresh out of rehab, Zack is trying to be himself. He wants to take his life and his career as an actor in a new direction now that he has a different outlook in life. During a press junket, Steve watches as Zack rejects the advances of a producer he works with and sets off to make sure that Zack is not a threat to the producer or the show he is directing. However, Steve finds himself being drawn to Zack. He sees something in him that he can't resist and asks him out for coffee.
In Action, Steve and Zack's relationship is threatened and Zach feels very vulnerable and Steve tries hard to make him feel safe. The BDSM scenes the author incorporated into the story were light, but added to my understanding of what Zach needed to feel safe. The sex scenes were filled with emotion and passion and I found them an intricate part of the story.
Cutaway takes place two years after Action. The story deals mainly with how their relationship has changed and improved. I found Zack to be more outspoken in regards to his needs and opinions. He expresses his desire to explore more of the BDSM aspect of their relationship and suggests to Steve that they visit a BDSM club. Steve is not too convinced on the idea. He accepts that their Dom/Sub relationship is an unconventional one, but he believes that it works for them. Nonetheless, he starts researching and planning the way to go about it.
In That's a Wrap we find Steve and Zack even more committed to each other. In the ending of Cutaway I was left with a lot of questions, mainly how Josh was going to become a part of this relationship and how it was going to affect their partnership.
This volume had a lot of the essential elements I look for in a book - humor, great dialog and an interesting storyline. Of course, the characters were amazing. I can't seem to get enough of Steve or Zack. And the new characters that were introduced throughout the stories were very interesting too. I especially enjoyed the range in emotions Liz Borino brought to the page in each story. All the characters displayed their emotions beautifully and that made it easier for me to connect fully with them.
I loved seeing how the relationship between Zack and Steve developed throughout, how Steve relinquished some control and opened himself to new possibilities - even parenthood! I loved their commitment to each other, Steve's vulnerable side and the whole role reversal element that they added to their relationship. Ah, and the addition of Sunni made me interested in reading more about how they will manage having a family. Sunni was a complete surprise to me but welcomed nonetheless. With her presence I got to see another side of Steve and Zack, which I appreciated. And now with Drew, well I'm looking forward to it even more.
For me, reading Steve and Zack's journey has been an enjoyable experience. I truly did enjoy it!
